Windows 7 Tablet

by admin on January 15, 2012

Tablet PCs are in vogue today and there are numerous models of tablets available in the market manufactured by different brands. What exactly makes a difference? The operating system, indeed, is one factor. Many of the newly arrived tablets PCs use Android operating system which is on a boom at the moment.

But, there are so many tablets which use Windows 7 operating system. At the moment, the competition with Android is rather strong in the market owing to several reasons.

One of the premiere models amongst Windows 7 tablets is Samsung Sliding PC7. The price of this tablet is around $649 which is considerably higher in comparison to its Android counterparts. But, the tablet boasts of a robust Intel CPU as well as a sophisticated design, securing itself a place in the top 10 tablets that graced 2011, as listed on ZDnet.

It is said that Windows 7 tablets range higher in terms of quality and performance. These tablets can hardly be attributed as frivolous ‘toys’. Although the pricing is a negative factor, the standard that Windows 7 Tablets offer in certain aspects is impeccable and worth every penny we spend on it.

Other Window 7 tablets in the market are Acer W500 hybrid tablet, the Dell Latitude ST tablet, the ThinkPad X220i tablet, the Toshiba WT310/C and the ExoPC Slate tablet. All of these products come in a similar price range as Samsung Sliding PC7. Some experts are of the opinion that Windows 7 exhibit excellent performance on desktops and laptop whereas it leaves a lot to be desired on tablet PCs.

Because of this reason, Windows 7 Tablet market is yet to hit a high. Current market situation is such that Apple occupies 90% of the tablet sales. Android covers majority of the remaining strata leaving little room for Microsoft, HP, HCL, RIM etc.

The recent announcement of Asus Eee EP121, which is a Windows 7 tablet, has invited positive reviews majorly due to its huge screen of 12-inches. Another Windows 7 tablet model, Viliv X70, weighs less than a pound and it has a screen less than 7-inches. Even this model was greeted with good response by the critics. Yet, the popular market belief is that Windows 7 tablets no longer enjoy a firm stand amongst other strong players.

At this point of time, Microsoft is in the research and development process to develop their Windows 8 operating system, which eventually will give rise to the manufacture of tablets with that OS as well. So, apparently the company has reduced their attention on Windows 7 tablets at the moment. They are keen on developing Windows 8 tablets as a strong competition to Apple iPads with sliding keyboards, a vast application gallery, less weight and functionalities basically for professional use.

Nevertheless, Windows 7 tablets has surely been a landmark for the brand, which is proved by the fact that many of its features, such as the user-friendly interface, will be carried forward for their later innovations as well.
